The year was 1976 and she was famous in 1976 when she made the most perfect ever 10 on the asymmetric bar during the Montreal Olympic Games. Adding to this, she scored six additional perfect 10s and became the youngest Olympic gold medalist. The Romanian gymnast did not only attracted attention from every angle however, she also assisted in helping Romania get its place on the global map. The achievement of an impossible score was what made the sports legend famous and popularized gymnastics in the entire world. It changed how people viewed female gymnasts. The reason for this was her impact during the Olympics in the same way that both move toe-on (toes on) as well as the release movement are named for her. They have remained, to this day, as challenging. She also performed well at World Championships, European Championships and the Olympics. This led to her becoming a legend and she is one of the most famous gymnasts in the world. The "Queen of the Olympics' tried her hand in modeling and advertising sporting equipment following her departure from the US.
